Sten rocks Rome

We were in Rome a few days ago, and met up with stencil madman 'Sten' and his boy Lucamaleonte. Sten took us to a squat/gallery where we caught the last day of his exhibition. Mindblowing detail, and a vast number of works. The mastermind behind 'Hole school' showed us what one can do with a one layer stencil.

This one, to our shock, is of Overspray's very own Royce Bannon!

And for those who doubt, we spotted these about a week ago at a park in Northern Rome. The boy does get up.

Izastickup - sticker book

Finally got my grubby paws on Microbo, The Don and B0130's incredible sticker book 'Izastickup'. It's incredible. A big, hard cover bible of stickers from all over the world. I tested them, checking the glossary for many friends and found them all! Good work guys. Congratulations on a fresh book.

Finally

It's just been too long. We've got so many shots and we get more every day. Every day there is news we want to share with you all but cant due to one technical difficulty or another. So finally, it dawned on me to set up a blog in the meantime while the site shapes up (which it will have to do really fast).
So...this is the first entry in the new Overspray blog. I'm Io, also known as Monkey6, the editor in chief of Overspray street art magazine.
We're based out of New York City, but our readership spans the globe.
We initially covered stencil graffiti and are now devoted to bringing you news, information, and interviews with people in all elements of street art from around the world.
Our official website is www.overspraymag.com
Anyone can contribute photos, articles or other content. Email high resolution photos to oversprayshots@gmail.com and articles to articles@overspraymag.com. For any further info, check up on our site.
With this blog we hope to work with you to inform, show, learn, give, make aware, and bring together. Check back every day for updates from around the world, new daily photos, events, and whatever the hell pops into our minds that can be tied back to street art.

The Berlin chronicles.

I have a million of these shots from my own collection so we'll call this the first installment in a volume of shots documenting the vast wealth of Berlin street art. -- M6

OVERSPRAY IN BERLIN - OPEN CALL

We are organizing the next big Overspray event in November, 2005 in Berlin, Germany. It will be a huge week-long festival/event celebrating street art from around the world.
Below is our open call to any and everyone who wants to be a part of it.

Overspray street art Magazine is looking for street artists to participate in a one-week exhibition/event/festival and documentary film in Berlin this November. The main exhibition will be a large group show, with 6-9 featured artists from different countries/cities. We will also feature film days, panel talks, live painting, workshops, a reading room, a fashion show, and parties. Our intention with this event is to present an un-splintered view of street art and the culture that surrounds it, as well as focus on what our art says politically and socially. We are exploring the theme of public space as canvas, and why we do it. The event will serve to fundraise for Overspray as well as to bring together artists internationally, and broaden understanding of the culture. Food and lodging is available for visiting artists and those who come to help out. All we need for submissions is some photos of your work on the street (work done inside is fine but won't be enough) and a short bit about why you do what you do. Our deadline is August 5th.
You can get in touch with us at oversprayberlin@gmail.com. All questions comments and thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
Please visit www.overspraymag.com to find out more about us.

‘Monkey6’ and ‘I love you’

the first

This is a piece I love you did while I stood watch. It's on Prince and Lafayette in downtown Manhattan. No idea if it's still there, but it was a great one.
